DI is 10–15 of 35 quant questions in bank prelims. Most sets need only percentage, ratio and average — the trick is calculation speed and reading the data correctly.
Reading a set in 20 seconds
- Read the title and units (thousands? lakhs? percent?).
- Identify what each axis or column represents.
- Note the total if given — it saves one addition per question.
- Read the 5 questions once; two are usually direct, two need percentage/ratio, one is a trap.
Calculation shortcuts
- Percentage change = (difference/base) × 100; approximate with fractions (12.5% = 1/8, 16.67% = 1/6, 33.33% = 1/3).
- Ratio of two bars: cancel common factors first.
- Pie chart: 1% = 3.6°; value = (angle/360) × total.
- Average of 5 values: use deviations from a middle value.
- For ‘approximately what percent’, round the numbers, not the answer.

2. B’s growth 2021→2025 = (65 − 30)/30 = 116.7%.
3. Ratio A : B in 2023 = 60 : 50 = 6 : 5.
4. In which year is A’s share of the combined total highest? Shares: 57%, 53%, 55%, 43%, 46% → 2021.
5. B’s 2024 sales are what percent of A’s 2022? 60/50 = 120%.
